How does a property qualify for Star Rental status?

Properties can be nominated by anyone. Nominations are reviewed by Heart of Lincoln neighborhood associations using a list of Star Standards. These standards include criteria related to tenant screening, property maintenance and security, lease enforcement, and cooperation with neighborhood residents. Nominations are also screened by the Lincoln Police Department.

We are currently not accepting any new nominations due to lack of funding for this program.

What are the benefits of receiving Star Rental status?

Properties selected for recognition are featured in articles in Neighborhood Extra and posted on the website. Property vacancies are posted on the website with a link to the UNL graduate student housing page. Yard signs proclaiming a property as a "Star Rental" are available to award winners through Neighborworks® Lincoln.
